Très Chic Travel Bag!

A World of Art & Stanley Kubrick

While on our trip to Los Angeles this past week, I visited the LACMA Museum and got a chance to see the Stanley Kubrick exhibit. I was super excited about this! Stanley Kubrick was an American film director, screenwriter, producer, cinematographer, and editor. He is known for many movies including, Lolita, Clockwork Orange, 2001: A Space Odyssey and my favorite, The Shining.

At the age of 16 when Roosevelt died he snapped a picture of newspaper clerk next to papers that read "FDR is Dead" (as you can see below). He sold it to Look Magazine and became an apprentice photographer and eventually a full-time staff photographer. At such a young age!

Below you can see letters sent to him from the church in opposition to the movie Lolita, considered very controversial at the time. 

As I mentioned above, my favorite movie of his is The Shining. My sister Marybel and I became obsessed with it as kids. We would scare each other by imitating the "Grady sisters scene" and believe me someone would always end up crying—ME!

Oh, and there they are the infamous sisters. It was a bit chilling to see the original dresses. Come and play with us Danny...so scary. I love that movie!

The exterior of the ‘Overlook Hotel’ is the Timberline Lodge, Mount Hood in Northern Oregon. So if you ever visit, let me know if you see the sisters or hear Jack's typewriter. Well, my sister and parents live in Oregon maybe I can visit the hotel soon...or not!

Stanley Kubrick is considered one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. It was really amazing to be able to see this exhibit. I truly admire creative genius as his. 

If you are in the Los Angeles area, you should definitely check it out. It runs until the end of June. Hope you liked my visit to the Stanley Kubrick exhibit!

A World of Travels & California (Part Two)

On Saturday we headed to the OC! We have a lot of family there, so we got to spend Mother's Day with my aunt and cousins. Sunday morning my cousins Alicia and Aly had prepared an amazing brunch, which included omelette, fresh fruit, croissants and yummy mimosas. My aunt and I were first to sign up!

It was really nice to see my cousins and aunt, they finally got to meet Duo. We live so far so I was super happy to see everyone! Below I'm with my cousins Alicia (the chef) and Brenda. 

Monday morning we got up and off we went to visit my aunt and uncle in Temecula. My aunt had prepared some delicious lunch for us. Yum! 

After lunch my uncle took us on a tour of the wineries. It was beautiful and a huge change of scenery from the concrete jungle we live in! It was really great to spend the day there.

That evening we were back on the road heading to Aliso Viejo. Guess what? More yummy food awaited! Cousin Oscar, who is an amazing chef, had made an Argentine barbeque (asado). Soo good!

I wish we could've had a longer stay! Our last day we drove back to L.A. and back to the beach, this time it was Santa Monica. So beautiful!

After a few hours at the beach we took a walk in Santa Monica, had ice cream and then drove back to LAX for our flight home.

It was such a great trip. We had a blast spending time with family, the beach, parks, museums and wineries of Southern California.

A World of Travels & California (Part One)

This past week Brian, Duo and I packed our bags and headed to sunny California! Brian was there for business and we decided to extend the stay and make it a family vacation and tag along. The flight was not bad at all. You never know with a toddler! Duo slept most of the time. Whew! 

Since our hotel wasn't ready when we arrived we went straight to the beach! Duo was loving the sand but not the waves. He's definitely a New Yorker!

The next day Grandma and Grandpa came from Las Vegas and we all headed to Hollywood. We took a stroll down Hollywood Boulevard. The day was beautiful!

It was fun to just walk around, it had been years since my last trip to L.A. However, Duo did not care to see any of that until...he spotted Mickey! Now the trip was worth it. He does exist!

The third day Brian had to work so Duo and I had a fun day planned. Not! He got pretty upset when Daddy had to leave, as you can see below.

He was not liking the car seat, so we went to the park...ok, much better! As long as he gets to run around he's happy! Yay!
