The last time I wrote a blog post was over eight months ago...WHAT?! As much as it was a conscious decision to take some time off, it was never intended to be this long. But as we all know life still happens.
So what has happened since that last post? Well, a lot! If you follow me on Instagram you might be caught up, but if not here's a summary of the past eight months.
Our beautiful daughter Una was born on June 6. It was and has been as amazing as I expected. Being a mom to a second child is a bit different—especially a little girl. I am loving every moment and of course it's also very challenging to have a baby with a four year old in the house.
I do feel a different sense of responsibility with a girl. I guess because I feel that I'm her role model of what a woman is. I want both my kids to be proud of who I am, but I also know that a little girl looks up to her mom. I like that feeling. It makes me want to be a better person and it keeps me grounded. It gives me a new sense of purpose.
Life has become a crazy, beautiful adventure and my heart cannot be more in love and thankful for my beautiful family.
Another important and big change has been that in November we moved back west. We are back in Las Vegas and it cannot feel any more strange. We had previously lived here for many years, in fact this is where my husband Brian and I met and from here we had planned our move to NYC. Our dream was to live in the city, open our business, get married and have kids there. And we did. So after having been there for seven years it feels weird to be back.
So, why are we back? A few reasons. Life definitely changed since having our daughter. Once we became a family of four, it wasn't so easy to navigate in the city. It was still a possibility, but we started to crave space, a bit of the suburban life that we had had. An option was to move to the outer areas of Manhattan but as I had always said if I were to live in the suburbs I would choose to be close to family. So that brought us to Vegas. For now...
The plan is to stay here for a couple of years and then move again. We thought maybe Los Angeles or Portland, since we have family there too, but we cannot get our minds (and hearts) away from NYC...so we'll see.
Well there you have it. We are a happy family of four, living in Las Vegas and missing NYC. I guess that as long as we're together and our kids are happy, I'm happy. So for now, I'll enjoy the quiet desert life. I do have a few new things I'm planning on doing while here, so I'll keep you updated as they happen.
Thanks for reading. I'm glad to be back. I've missed you!
