A World of Flavors & Gourmet Crispy Rice Treats

A few weeks ago I heard about a place called Treat House in the Upper West Side that sold rice crispy treats in original flavors such as Birthday Cake, Coconut and Gummy Bears. Of course we had to go!

Once we got there it was really hard to choose a flavor, so we decided to get the Gummy Bears (of course), Coconut, Chocolate Peanut Butter and Bananas Foster. Yum!

The treats are super cute bite sized and the flavors are delicious. I loved the Bananas Foster. It was so good with the caramelized marshmallow. I also love that they had festive holiday ones. You can even order custom designs and flavors.

The space is really nice too. It has a back area that feels like you are in a tree house with a little wood table and log seats. Duo loved it!

A World of Flavors & Milk Ice Cream

With the end of Summer here, we decided to head to this place I had been hearing about for years, milk bar in the east village. They are famous for their crack pie®, cereal milk™ soft serve, and compost cookies®.

Being that Brian, Duo and I are all cookie lovers we chose to try the Cornflake Chocolate Chip Marshmallow Cookie. Oh dear, I can't even begin to describe how delicious this is. It's the perfect chewy texture and the flavors are rich but but not overpowering. Yum!

The menu includes everything from Ice cream , cookies to pies and coffee. This location is super tiny and there was a long line to get in—but well worth it.

And we weren't going to leave without trying their ice creams. We had the crack pie® and cereal milk™ soft serve topped with crunch. I did love it, but I still have to say that the cookie was amazing. 

We are already planning our next visit. I mean, I have to try all those cookie and ice cream flavors....

A World of Flavors & A Delicatessen

One place that we kept on putting on hold, since moving to NYC, was Katz's Deli in the Lower East Side. A few days ago we knew it was time to see what all the buzz was all about and headed to the "oh so famous, must see while in NYC" spot.

The place is exactly what you would expect from a NYC deli. Lots of tables and hundreds of pictures on the wall of celebrities that had sat (maybe) exactly where we were sitting.

Of course, when at Katz's Deli you must order the pastrami sandwich, which it's famous for (as you can below). Oh my! Seriously, can they even add more pastrami to it? As much as I'm not a pastrami fan, I must admit that it was delicious!

Many of you, (if you're old enough or watch old 80s movies) might remember Katz's Deli from the famous movie scene in the 1989 movie "When Harry Met Sally". And the quote that made it even more famous: "I'll have what she's having." (picture of Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal below)

I think that Katz's Deli is a must experience while in NYC. It's been open since 1888—a true NYC classic!

This is one of the reasons I love NYC! One day you're having exquisite macarons at Ladurée in Soho and the next you're enjoying an amazing pastrami sandwich in the Lower East Side....

A World of Flavors & A Ladurée Birthday

This past Sunday was my birthday and I was eager to go to Ladurée, which had finally opened in Soho! I am a macaron lover and the fact that my aunt and cousins were here visiting from California made it even more special.

We were there for tea time (which I love).You cannot go wrong with macarons, but we also wanted to order so many other treats from the menu...too many amazing choices!

The decor of the restaurant is beautiful. Chandeliers, beautiful molding and art. Perfect setting for afternoon tea.

I ordered Canarino tea Infusion of lemon, lime and orange zests, flavoured with fresh ginger and the Religieuse Griotte Amande—cream puff pastry, “blanc-manger” cream, morello cherry compote, morello cherry. I had never had anything so delicious and beautiful. The cherry and cream...true heaven! Of course we all ordered a variety of macarons too!

Brian's choice was also amazing! He had the St Honoré Rose Framboise—puff pasty, choux pastry, light rose petal cream, raspberry compote, fresh raspberries and rose water Chantilly cream. I'm usually not a big fan of raspberries but this dessert is beyond delicious. The rose petal cream...oh my!

What an amazing place. The only problem is that it's too close to us—too dangerous! Oh Ladurée, thank you for making all my macaron dreams come true!

A World of Flavors & French Pastries

One of my favorite places to sit down and have coffee "with pastries" is Ceci Cela in the heart of downtown in the Nolita neighborhood. It's been a favorite of ours ever since we moved to Nolita. The place is very small and quaint, oh but their menu is as good as it gets!

The great thing about Ceci Cela is that it's the perfect stop for a break at any time during the day. Breakfast is great, afternoon coffee break and even lunchtime doesn't disappoint, especially with their amazing quiches. It's also the perfect place to buy something delicious to go!

This visit we ordered the Croque Monsieur, which comes with a side of salad. It was really good, but of course you cannot leave without their amazing pastries...

I had an apricot danish (which I love), Duo had a croissant (Voted “Best Croissant” in New York City by SeriousEats.com) and Brian ordered his favorite, Almond Croissant. My favorite in the menu are definitely the Palmiers—oh my, they are amazing!! They were out so I'll just have to go back, of course!

It was a great lunch break and of course after Duo was ready to go to the playground! After all those pastries Brian and I needed to run around too...

Whenever you are in the neighnorhood ,stop by Ceci Cela! You will not be disappointed!
