A Visit to Jean Paul Gaultier: Part Two

Welcome to part two of the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the Brooklym Museum! (Part one here) The Boudoir was an area where you could see pieces like corsets, bras, and below, his childhood teddy bear, for which he designed his first cone bra.

The outfit below was worn by Beyonce at a 2009 concert in Las Vegas, and it's from the Calligraphy collection. Haute couture, Spring - Summer 2009.

Of course, we all remember Madonna's iconic outfits from her 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour. The corset  above was worn during her "Like a Virgin" segment and below you can see the corset style bodysuit worn in the "Express Yourself" segment.

The next room was filled with graffiti and punk-inspired couture and had a catwalk in the center. It was quite impressive and grand!

A Visit to Jean Paul Gaultier: Part One

This past week we were fortunate to attend the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk in the Brooklyn Museum. There were seven themes since he emerged as a designer in the 1970s. All I have to say is that it was incredible! If you, like me, love fashion, art, attention to detail and originality, well this exhibition had it all!  

When you first walked in you were greeted by Jean Paul Gaultier himself. You see, the mannequins talked, sang and winked at you. Yes, they were animated! But your eyes did not leave the phenomenal artistry in the designs. They were perfection! 

There were around 140 haute couture and prêt-à-porter ensembles, from the designer’s earliest to his most recent collections. 

This crochet dress was worn by Kylie Minogue in her “Like A Drug” video for the X2008 Tour. It's part of his Virgins Collection, haute couture spring/summer 2007. Look at the details!

The looks below are part of the Mermaids Collection, haute couture spring/summer 2008. So beautiful and so many details!

Winter Coats Galore

You have your gloves, your hats, your scarves and of course your booties, but you cannot be stylish in the winter without an amazing coat!

I love all these coats! The Ivanka Trump with faux fur is an amazing addition to any wardrobe (mine, perhaps?) 

Who doesn't love a coat like that Club Monaco? Perfect! Sometimes the coat is what makes the outfit and with that grey and black one from Asos you are sure to be turning heads! And too add a pop of color, emerald green will definitely brighten up your closet!
