Japanese artist Takashi Murakami was born in Tokyo in 1962. He is an international fine artist in medias such as painting and sculpture. He is also a commercial artist and has created work for the fashion industry, merchandise, and animation. His work is amazing, I love how fun and colorful it is!
He's also had exhibits worldwide in places such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Brooklyn Museum of Art in New York, the Museum für Moderne Kunst in Frankfurt, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, Spain and a solo retrospective exhibition at the Bard College Museum of Art.
His collaboration with designer Marc Jacobs for Louis Vuitton that began in 2002 is what also made him a part of fashion history. Below is one of the prints he created for Louis Vuitton. Love those handbags. Art + fashion = perfection!
