This Sunday is St. Patrick's Day, so I thought it would be appropriate to talk about luck.
Wikipedia says: "Luck is fortune which occurs beyond one's control, without regard to one's will, intention, or desired result."
Do you agree with this? I don't agree...at all.
Luck is often seen as something mystical or unknown. There is no way of predicting our future, but I do believe we have a say on what the outcome may look like. It's not necessarily about what cards we've been dealt, in the game of life, but how we play that really matters.
Here are a few items that will help you acquire more luck in your life:
- Keep an eye out for opportunities. Lucky people are quick to spot opportunities.
- Be open to opportunities. Lucky people are easy going and are not stuck in a box. If you're not open minded, luck might be right in front of you but you'll miss it because you are focused on something else.
- Take action. Lucky people take chances beyond their contort zone. They talk to strangers, ask the guy/girl out, ask questions, they don't wait for things to happen to them. They make them happen.
- Be kind. Lucky people are good people, and as result life gives them that goodness back.
- Be positive. Lucky people don't focus on failure. If they fail, they take the lesson and move forward.
- Be ready. As Seneca the Roman philosopher said, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
And last, believe you are lucky. Because you are.You make your own luck.
Have a very fortunate, happy weekend!
