I love this quote and I love Walt Disney! I was born in Southern California going to Disneyland every Summer, so Disney has had a huge impact in my imagination. I recently watched the movie "Walt before Mickey" on Netflix (which I truly recommend) and to see him turn his "dream" into a reality by not letting in to the circumstances is very empowering. Mickey Mouse was a dream and now he's part of every child's life.
I believe in dreams, in a person''s imagination. I believe that anything in life is attainable. But I also believe that a lot of work, dedication and discipline is invested in dreams that become reality.
Dreams do come true...but must always be followed by passion, courage and hard work.
Summer is definitely here, so I was super excited to partner with POPSUGAR and receive their June Must Have Box. Every month POPSUGAR's Must Have Box is filled with fun, stylish products and this month is not an exception!
Included in June are a beautifully printed sarong (perfect for the beach!), a gold bottle opener, a fun guessing game, the perfect nail polish for the 4th of July, a cute mirror compact, underarm deodorant wipes, and a bag of sriracha pretzel chips.Definitely Summer filled!
South of the Las Vegas Strip, near Jean Dry Lake is a magical art installation by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone—Seven Magic Mountains. Seven towers of neon colored stacked boulders standing between thirty and thirty five feet high. This past weekend Brian and I decided to head over to the large scale artwork in the middle of the Mojave desert. I can truly say it is amazing!
The contrast between the natural landscape and the colorful totems, is what makes it magical. It's like arriving to a mirage after miles of desert. All seven towers are different, each one carefully created to make a perfect collection.
We arrived late in the afternoon, which was perfect. There weren't many visitors and the sunset was gorgeous. I love the picture below with the moon. A very magical moment.
If you're in the area, I really recommend visiting. The sculptures will be up for a only a couple of years, until May 2018. So there's still time to experience it.
And just like that, it's Summer! Yay! Well, I'm happy for the sunny days, but it gets a bit too hot here in Las Vegas. I'm not really excited about the three digit weather so maybe we'll have to head out to the nearest beach. Right?
A must for these up coming warm days is a pair of espadrilles that can be worn day and night. If you're heading to the beach (or pool) this one piece swimsuit in a gorgeous green paired with a fun and chic hat (love this one!) and the perfect sunglasses will keep you stylish and safe from the rays.
The perfect bag to carry all your Summer essentials, from beach to brunch. And of course, the perfect manicure and a bit of color to your lips and voila!
The last time I wrote a blog post was over eight months ago...WHAT?! As much as it was a conscious decision to take some time off, it was never intended to be this long. But as we all know life still happens.
So what has happened since that last post? Well, a lot! If you follow me on Instagram you might be caught up, but if not here's a summary of the past eight months.
Our beautiful daughter Una was born on June 6. It was and has been as amazing as I expected. Being a mom to a second child is a bit different—especially a little girl. I am loving every moment and of course it's also very challenging to have a baby with a four year old in the house.
I do feel a different sense of responsibility with a girl. I guess because I feel that I'm her role model of what a woman is. I want both my kids to be proud of who I am, but I also know that a little girl looks up to her mom. I like that feeling. It makes me want to be a better person and it keeps me grounded. It gives me a new sense of purpose.
Life has become a crazy, beautiful adventure and my heart cannot be more in love and thankful for my beautiful family.
Another important and big change has been that in November we moved back west. We are back in Las Vegas and it cannot feel any more strange. We had previously lived here for many years, in fact this is where my husband Brian and I met and from here we had planned our move to NYC. Our dream was to live in the city, open our business, get married and have kids there. And we did. So after having been there for seven years it feels weird to be back.
So, why are we back? A few reasons. Life definitely changed since having our daughter. Once we became a family of four, it wasn't so easy to navigate in the city. It was still a possibility, but we started to crave space, a bit of the suburban life that we had had. An option was to move to the outer areas of Manhattan but as I had always said if I were to live in the suburbs I would choose to be close to family. So that brought us to Vegas. For now...
The plan is to stay here for a couple of years and then move again. We thought maybe Los Angeles or Portland, since we have family there too, but we cannot get our minds (and hearts) away from NYC...so we'll see.
Well there you have it. We are a happy family of four, living in Las Vegas and missing NYC. I guess that as long as we're together and our kids are happy, I'm happy. So for now, I'll enjoy the quiet desert life. I do have a few new things I'm planning on doing while here, so I'll keep you updated as they happen.
Thanks for reading. I'm glad to be back. I've missed you!
